Feasibility of Serbian renewable energy policy in reaching EU2020 goals

Ministry of Energy, Development and Environmental Protection of Republic of Serbia (MERZ) has presented energy policy for renewable energy sources (RES) to be in line with national and European Union (EU) legal frameworks with main goal to increase renewable energy sources share in gross final energy consumption (GFEC) from 21.2 % to 27 % in 2020. Additionally, list of priority projects (e.g. Bistrica pumped storage hydro power plant, TENT B3 thermal power plant, Novi Sad combined heat and power plant...), with the aim of finding a strategic partner have been presented. Targets are set for integration of different renewable energy sources into energy demand sectors as specific policy goals with draft National Renewable Energy Action Plan (NAPOIE). Construction of selected strategic facilities and reaching of specific policy goals will be simulated with EnergyPLAN to discuss their sufficiency to meet main goal and other two EU 2020 energy strategy goals.
