Though a scant 87 pages long, Symbiosis and Separation: Towards a Psychology of Culture by Richard A. Koenigsberg asks much of its readers. A reader would be hard put to understand this technical monograph without a working knowledge of Freudian metapsychology, including an appreciation of the "economic" approach to mental data that deals with psychic energy and its transformations.
