Application of FEC in Land Fiber-optical Communication System

The research on high speed long haul fiber-optical communications system has become the focus in the optical communication field.Forward error correction is the key technique for implementation of high speed long haul fiber-optical communications.This paper describes the necessity of FEC in land fiber-optical system,the implementations on SDH layer and OCh layer,and the improvement on the system performance.
