An indoor propagation model for development and testing of UHF-RFID tag localization techniques

An indoor propagation model for simulating the signal backscattered by a UHF-RFID tag is presented in this paper. The ray-based numerical code includes tag and reader antennas features, and accounts for first-order reflection contributions from the environment. The application to a phase-based localization technique for UHF-RFID tags moving on a conveyor belt is shown.
