Study of Scalable Video Compression Coding Based on FS-SPIHT Algorithm

To proposed a new modified method based on the FS-SPIHT video coding algorithm.FS-SPIHT algorithm overcome the shortcoming of the SPIHT algorithm,divided the coefficient matrix into spatial layer,and added a new NLIS form to implement spatial scalability,and realized the spatial scalability.Based on the FS-SPIHT algorithm,the proposed method added a new form called LCDL in the head information to remember the max Gate Value T' of every spatial layer,so it wiped off most useless zero bits and improved the coding efficiency.Experiment results show that the coding method is superior to the EZW algorithm.Compared with the FS-SPIHT algorithm,it improved the PSNR by 0.1～1.3dB.
