Analysis of Operating Speed Characteristics on Accident-prone Section of Two-lane Highway

Through the analysis of spatial and temporal distribution and the morphological characteristics of traffic accidents of National Road G224 Haiyu middle line of Hainan Province, qualitative analysis of correlation between indicators for the two-lane highway accidents and speed characteristics was carried out.Based on the comprehensive analysis in terms of vehicle speed and accident research results,authors proposed the concept of large and small size vehicle speed discrete rates.Based on road accident statistics and various statistical data of continuous speed observation of Haiyu middle line for three years,authors established the relational model of large and small size vehicle speed discrete rates and accident rates.According to this model,authors proposed the specific section accident condition evaluation criteria characterized by large and small size vehicle speed discrete rates.Results show that different size vehicle speed discrete rates and accident rates exist correlation and their correlative models fitted by exponent distribution are more reasonable.
