The invention discloses a charging machine for an electric vehicle. The charging machine for the electric vehicle comprises a bidirectional converter for mutual conversion of alternating current of a power grid and direct current of the electric vehicle, a bidirectional metering electricity meter connected with the bidirectional converter and used for obtaining first conversion electric quantity and second conversion electric quantity through metering and a controller connected with the bidirectional converter and the bidirectional metering electricity meter respectively and used for controlling the bidirectional converter perform current conversion according to the first conversion electric quantity and the second conversion electric quantity, wherein the first conversion electric quantity is electric quantity of the alternating current of the power grid, converted by the direct current of the electric vehicle, and the second conversion electric quantity is electric quantity of the direct current of the electric vehicle, converted by the alternating current of the power grid. By means of the charging machine for the electric vehicle, the problem that an existing charging machine cannot guarantee mutual conversion of the alternating current of the power grid and the direct current of the electric vehicle is solved.
