Dynamic Reconstruction of a Colonial Mexican Mechanism

In this paper, a detail analysis of a Colonial mechanism is presented. In this work, a procedure for reconstructing the dynamic parameters of antique mechanisms is described. With this analysis, the restoration of antique artifacts incorporates actual loading conditions based on engineering data. The reconstruction of the engineering data included field measurements, X ray analysis, functional analysis and interpretation of the kinematic chains. The mechanism that is analysed in this work was originally design by miners during the Colonial time. The procedure presented here can be applied to other mining machinery, it can reconstruct the engineering concepts that were used before the industrial revolution.
