Regeneration mechanisms in a DC motor with an H-bridge inverter

Regeneration has been cited as a major concern in electric actuation. However, the dynamics of regeneration have not been fully explored in the literature. Presently no solution to minimizing the occurrence is known, only how to eliminate the effect through braking resistors. It is the intent of this paper to focus on the DC motor and H-bridge inverter to analyze regeneration in its simplest form. This paper outlines types of regeneration and what factors of the electrical system are responsible for it.
