Assisting System for Making Friends with Location, Time and Profile Information

As the wide popularization of online social network services such as Facebook, recommendation of potential friends is a very popular application. In spite of many university students want to make new offline friends, most of them cannot make offline friends. In this paper, we propose a distributed social networks system to assist a student to make new offline friends in a same campus. Our system recommends potential friends who stay in same place for more time in common. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach using both analysis and experiments. Servers are distributed in a canteen, a shop and a satellite stand in our university. Participants are freshmen.
