Windows are a major area of energy losses in any building and improving their performance would have a substantial impact on energy use and comfort. In 2001 eight countries joined a SAVE project in order to develop a window energy rating system for all of Europe, European Window Energy Rating System (EWERS). The rating system and the associated labelling system will help consumers, dealers, architects and other decision makers in the building sector to choose the most energy efficient windows.
