Equipment for teaching pesticide application technology.

Application of pesticides has received considerable attention by industry, the Environmental Protection Agency, producers, scientists, educators, and the general public. The literature indicates that spray nozzles are a primary source of application error. Ten laboratory-scale, spray tables were designed and constructed to teach pesticide application technology. The spray tables provided students an opportunity for hands-on exercises with five types of agricultural spray nozzles. The laboratory exercises focused on nozzle performance characteristics, distribution angles and patterns, droplet size, and relationship between flow, pressure, and nozzle height.
