Load transfer strategy based on power transfer capability for main‐transformer fault

SUMMARY A novel load transfer strategy based on the power transfer capability for main-transformer fault is proposed in this paper. First, the distribution network is simplified to a series of main-transformers inter-connected units and the main-transformers linkage matrix is formed. On this basis, the load transfer area is divided into load transfer districts referring to the N − 1 guidelines. Then, the load to be transferred is distributed according to the percentage of the capacity–load ratio of each load transfer district in the total capacity–load ratio. During the distribution process, the capacity constraint of tie line and the load rate of main-transformer are fully considered. Simulation results of a real urban medium voltage distribution network verify the effectiveness of the proposed method in solving the tie line capacity insufficiency and main-transformer overloading problem in traditional load transfer methods. Furthermore, the power transfer capability of the distribution network is improved. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
