DSP/FPGAControl forVariable-Speed WindTurbines

Thispaperproposes anadvanced control ofthree- phasethree-level neutral pointclamped(3L-NPC)PWM converter connecting aparallel connected generators toagrid. Control schemeismainly basedonactive andreactive power loops andcontains following additional blocks: virtual fluxand filter-capacitor voltage estimators forsensorless operation, active damping(AD)ofpossible resonances inLCL filter connecting converter tothegrid, PWM modulator withDC link voltage balancing andminimization ofswitching losses. Itis shownthattheproposed control methodexhibits several featuresas: sensorless operation, robustalgorithm, minimization ofswitching losses aswellassimpletuning procedure ofAD.Simulation andexperimental results have proven anexcellent performance andverified thevalidity ofthe proposed system.
