A method based on high frequency electromagnetic transients for fault location on grounding grids

In this work, a modified version of the Time-Difference-of-Arrival method is developed and applied for diagnosing faults (discontinuities) on ground grids. The method is sucessfully applied, since wideband signals are used for achieving sufficient resolution. FDTD simulations are used for testing the method and the numerical simulations are experimentally verified. Maximum deviation of approximatelly 10 cm from the real position of fault is observed.
