The use of domain splitting with an explicit hyperbolic solver

Abstract A method of splitting the solution domain in order to allow faster computation of practical first-order hyperbolic problems is described. Results are presented which show the performance of the method in both one and two dimensions. An indication is also given of the likely saving in computer time which can be achieved by using the method.
