Enhanced Raman amplification by hybrid photonic crystals

We demonstrate the remarkable enhancement of the Raman amplification in hybrid photonic crystal (PhC) based structure compared with the conventional PhCs. The time evolution and propagation of sub-picosecond pulse signals inside the device are analyzed by using FDTD method considering optical nonlinear parameters such as two photon absorption and free carrier absorption. The effects of several parameters like signal-pump wavelength detuning and cavity length on the Raman gain are investigated as well.
