To more efficiently manage the highly complex electrical networks in a competitive environment, many applications of the state-of-the-art information technology have been developed to integrate different corporate information systems. In order to evaluate the performance of an integrated SCADA-AM/FM-OMS system in distribution system operations, an off-the-shelf simulation package using discrete event simulation techniques is used in this paper. This paper shows a thorough analysis of the overall performance of the integrated system under realistic conditions and the changes in the response times of SCADA functions due to the integration are investigated. Test results have indicated that an integrated SCADA-AM/FM-OMS system with data file transfer schemes could maintain the performance requirement of each system and concurrently enhance the performance of emergency cases handling and trouble management.
