The Influence of Creep on the High Temperature Cyclic Life of IN738LC

Creep has an important influence on the cyclic life time at high temperatures. Therefore, creep has to be quantified in cyclic loading conditions. A new concept is proposed, quantifying the creep deformation in complex experimental situations. Using this concept, LCF data are analysed. Furthermore, it is shown for certain experimental situations, that cyclic life time is given by static creep data. The limitations of this model are given using the above concept. For general situations, five different life time prediction rules are compared. It is shown that the Franklin rule gives good results, although it has only one adjustable parameter.
