Application of analytical hierarchy process for justification of ISO 9000 implementation in manufacturing organisations

The competitive manufacturing environment and changing customer needs demand improved quality of products. The product quality and attributes increasingly depend upon the organisation's ability in organising manufacturing system and its equipment and facilities in an optimal manner. ISO 9000 quality management system has attracted the attention of industries all over the world. This study attempts to develop a model of ISO 9000 decision-making using the analytical hierarchy process (AHP). This paper presents a framework that employs the AHP for justification of ISO 9000 implementation in manufacturing organisations for enhanced business performance.
