Sentiment Analysis of Tweets for Estimating Criticality and Security of Events

SocialMediahasbecomeoneofthemajorindustriesintheworld.Ithasbeennotedthatalmost threefourthoftheworld’spopulationusesocialmedia.Thishasinstigatedmanyresearchestowards socialmedia.Onesuchusefulapplicationisthesentimentalanalysisofrealtimesocialmediadata forsecuritypurposes.Theinsightsthataregeneratedcanbeusedbylawenforcementagenciesand forintelligencepurposes.Therearemanytypesofanalysesthathavebeendoneforsecuritypurposes. Here,theauthorsproposeacomprehensivesoftwareapplicationwhichwillmeticulouslyscrapedata fromTwitterandanalysethemusingthelexiconbasedanalysistolookforpossiblethreats.They proposeamethodologytoobtainaquantitativeresultcalledcriticalitytoassessthelevelofthreatfor apublicevent.Theresultscanbeusedtounderstandpeople’sopinionsandcommentswithregardto specificevents.Theproposedsystemcombinesthislexiconbasedsentimentalanalysisalongwith deepdatacollectionandsegregatestheemotionsintodifferentlevelstoanalysethethreatforanevent.
