Polarization independent Ti:LiNbO/sub 3/ switches and filters

Integrated optic polarization independent switches on X-cut Ti:LiNbO/sub 3/ are realized. An interferometric switch on X-cut Z-propagating LiNbO/sub 3/ utilizes passive polarization independent intersecting waveguide 3 dB couplers. Polarization independent switches on X-cut Y-propagating LiNbO/sub 3/ based on polarization converters and intersecting waveguide couplers designed as passive polarization splitters are fabricated and investigated.
