A Microwave Apparatus for Rapid Heating of Thread lines

AbstractA resonant-cavity type microwave system for rapid heating of polymeric threadlines has been developed. The basic design considerations which lead to the reliable operation of this heater are presented. Keys to the design of an efficient applicator are the selection of a controllable resonant mode, sufficient separation between adjacent modes, provision for ready insertion of the threadlines, and a means for tuning to the resonant frequency.
