The Ecuadorian Navy, in order to fulfill the duties established in the Constitution and the Nation’s Security Plan, requires new generations of Officers with updated knowledge not only in academic fields but also in technological devices which influence processes for decision-making on naval units. This challenge is one of the objectives of the Naval Officers School and The Armed Forces University (ESPE) which offer majors in Naval Sciences and Naval Logistics. For this reason, the curriculum redesign was necessary to include technological components in the syllabi in order to guarantee Officers capable of facing combat threats and social challenges of this century. The technological component is the fundamental part for the development of subjects related to the Naval Officer’s occupation in virtual and simulated environments. The application of Learning and Knowledge Technologies (LKT) in addition to the Empowerment and Participation Technologies (EPT) allow naval students to apply accurate decisions in the Nation’s Defense area.
