A "finger equivalent" of the "toe tourniquet syndrome".

The communication by Dr. Quinn on the "Toe Tourniquet Syndrome" brings to mind a similar complication seen in our premature nursery in 1966. A female premature infant, birthweight 1,200 gm, born after 28 weeks' gestation had an uneventful neonatal course. It was the custom in the nursery, at that time, to put mittens on the hands of premature infants receiving nasal tube feeding to prevent them from removing the tube between feeds. The mittens were made of a soft flannel cloth and removed daily for laundering.
