A new small conformal antenna for capsule endoscopy

In this paper the design of a very small meandered type antenna for capsule endoscopy is presented. This antenna is conformal to the outer wall of the capsule and has an ultrawide bandwidth, thus it can overcome the detuning effect which may happen when the capsule passes different tissues and parts within the digestive tract and also support higher rates of data transmission. The simulation results show that this 10 mm length antenna has a bandwidth of 785 MHZ (215-1000 MHz) for VSWR<;2, which is a much wider bandwidth and smaller in size than reported existing designs. The radiation pattern of this antenna is omnidirectional that is optimum for such applications.
