A number of market surveys are used to provide guidance on the growth rates within various sectors of the sensor market. A number of economic factors are considered which will have a serious bearing on the development of the sensor market. The manner in which research and development organisations, and also educational institutions, will need to adapt in order to respond to these changes is discussed.
