In this paper we review the results of previous theoretical and experimental studies of nonlinear interfaces, and report new experimental results obtained using a liquid suspension of dielectric particles (1) as the nonlinear medium. This medium has a sufficiently large nonlinearity to permit nonlinear interface experiments to be performed with low-power CW laser beams, and thus simple, direct experimental verification of theoretical predictions is now possible for the first time.
