A Type of Contraction Hypothesis applicable to all Muscles

Electrostatic repulsion between filaments could play a key part in the contractile process, provided that constant lattice volume is maintained by viscous and other forces. An electrostatic–hydraulic mechanism could function with only actin in a filamentous form.
