An Open Loop With Kalman Filter for Intermittent GNSS Signal Tracking

Intermittent tracking technique can be used in the global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receiver to reduce its power consumption. To the pedestrian and vehicle navigation in the urban areas, an open loop with the Kalman filter for the GNSS signal intermittent tracking is proposed and its tracking accuracy relationship with the duty cycle is analyzed. Simulation and experiment results show that, compared with the conventional closed loop and open loop, the proposed algorithm can track the signal steady with a smaller duty cycle and achieve a better tracking accuracy performance.
