Local recurrence and quality of life after adjuvant radiation therapy in high‐risk squamous cell carcinoma

Cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) is a common malignancy of keratinocytes, with an increasing world-wide incidence1 . cSCC has high cure rates, with a 2-4% recurrence and metastases rate at two years2 . Increased rates occur in a high-risk subgroup3 , but there is a lack of consensus in identifying these factors. In one study, 87% of tumors were defined as high-risk under the National Comprehensive Cancer Center (NCCN) guidelines, compared to 18% with the American Joint Committee on Cancer criteria4 .
