Industrialization and sustainable construction a case study of Malaysia

Construction industry is one of the driving forces of the nations' economy due to its contribution in generating wealth through constant growth in GDP, which influence the development of social and economic infrastructures, and building, and providing job opportunities. But, against all these benefits construction industry' total energy and resource consumption and carbon emission also raise a growing concerns regarding this industry among experts. Construction industrialization could be considered as a feasible tool to support the construction industry to achieve sustainable development in the current process of rapid urbanization. In other words the unique characteristics of Industrialized Building System have the potential to respond well to the sustainability challenge facing the construction industry. Thus, this study tries to examine industrialization and its relation and capabilities towards the agenda of the sustainability particularly with respect to Malaysia.
