Fuzzy membership function optimization for smart LED lamp using particle swarm optimization

This paper presents a design and development of smart lighting in a building to save electrical energy consumption efficiently. Fuzzy logic control is used as a controller for control the lighting although the environmental light be changed. Membership function is a parameter that affects to accuracy of the control system. The membership function is defined by expert first but it is not easy to get the best performance. To solve this problem, the particle swarm optimization (PSO) is used to search the appropriate parameter for defining membership function of fuzzy logic system. From experimental results, the proposed system can get improvement of fuzzy logic control system for the smart LED lamp.
