Some reflections relating to the article: General Cell Degenerations as a Result of Vitamln A Deficiency. Cod‐liver Oil in large Doses, by P. Henriksen, M. D.

Since 1922, when for the first time organic Cod-liver Oil (c.1.0.) lesions were found in my experimental animals, 1 have performed numbers of experiments on this subject. During 1926 and later, some of the results arrived a t have been presented in several publicetions. I n certain quarters, however, especidly those with mercantile interests, these results were very ill received. Several attacks were made upon me by representatives of the pharmacological departenicnt of the University of Oslo. One of the most recent is published in this periodical under the heading given above. Up tho the present not a single relevant objection, founded on facts, has been raised against my results. On the contrary, even in the department above mentioned, my results have been verified in all essential points although the arrangement of the experiments there and the degree of objectivity shown are anything but suitable for a control. As a clear example of the average objectivity shown by HENRIKSEX, his figure-reference "(1 ; Fig. 6)))' may serve. On this account it may from my side be quite sufficient to correct only a few of his misunderstandings by way of further illustrating this point.
