Matrix conveyor for use as sorter or palletizing

There is disclosed a matrix conveyor, comprising: a plurality of individual roll modules (28), wherein the roller modules (28) along a grid-like structure (68) are arranged and share a substantially flat conveying plane (30) defining, on which a material to be conveyed (72 ) is transportable; and a higher-level control device (12) which is adapted, each roller module (28) in such a way preferably individually to control that the conveyed material (72) along a vorausplanbaren web (74) can be transported, wherein a shape of the web (74) by is defined a plurality of superposition of at least two base conveying directions (60, 62) of the conveying plane (30); wherein the at least two base conveying directions (60, 62), the conveying plane (30) span geometric, and wherein each roller module (28) in only one of at least two base conveying directions (60, 62) can be driven so that directly adjacent roller modules (66) preferably in each case in another of the at least two base conveying directions (62, 60) are drivable.
