Improvement on inverse distance weighted interpolation for ore reserve estimation

In order to improve accuracy of estimation for ore reserves and average grade, it is important to select suitable interpolation method. Firstly, traditional inverse distance weighted method is analyzed and grade estimation model is improved. Specifically, irregular ellipsoid interpolation model is put forward, which is suitable for vein thin ore body or layerlike ore body, etc. The new model, based on regionalized variable theory of geological statistics, promotes the application of inverse distance weighted method by combining ore body occurrence elements with interpolation method Then, the method is applied in typical mining area, which verifies its effectiveness and feasibility. Contrast to traditional inverse distance weighted method and tessellation polygon method, its estimation error is smaller, which can provide data support for the construction of ore body model and 3dimension visualization simulation.
