The Prospects For Traffic Demand Management And Road-use Pricing Schemes In The Mid 1990's

This paper reports on the work being carried out in Europe on the technologies being developed for the automatic pricing of vehicles for road use. Additionally, the objectives and scope of a major new initiative in road-pricing are described. An integrated payment system, based on the developments of the PAMELA project and other DRIVE I projects, will be developed and installed for large scale field trials in demand management and road-pricing in Norway, Sweden the U.K., Portugal, and Greece.
