Simulation Method of Annual Energy Management for Electric Utility

Abstract The purpose of operational planning in an electric utility is the economical coordination of its power generation units, such as fossil, hydro, nuclear, and power transactions with its neighbors, so as to meet the demand within some constraints about the energy resources and the reliability at all times. To solve this problem, computer tools for the annual operational planning were developed using some kind of mathematical programming, such as dynamic programming, nonlinear programming, with heuristics. The simulation system assists the operational planner in making an economical and reliable plan, by preparing a feasible and partial optimized solution.
