사용자 참여디자인 커뮤니케이션 도구의 특징 및 경향 분석

Development toward democratic society that enhances the users’ demands and participation and the ITs that have enabled drastic communication channels, have also made it possible to realize a conspicuous development in all artificial environmental designs. The purpose of this study is to compare the characteristics of design communication tools that support the users’ participation. In this study communication tools include both analog and high-tech tools. Among the diverse tools developed so far, total 16 cases comprising two types of eight visual items such as sketch, PIC, image map, block tools, 3D models, GIS, VR and AR were analyzed based on the detailed aims and functional natures of the cases already announced. The results revealed that analog tools were mostly used to produce and develop new ideas and to promote the understanding of the users’ experiences and had the characteristics of on-the-spot nature and easy convenience. On the other hand digital tools were mostly used in the process of prior evaluations and reviewing the alternatives to obtain the practical results and consequences. This study is meaningful as it has comprehensively and comparatively analyzed the communication tools for participatory designs for the first time in Korea. This study is considered to be used as a reference in selecting the tools in the planning stage of participatory designs, and by presenting a comprehensive scope of tools for participatory designs this study can promote the creative development and utilization of design tools and techniques.
