Clinical practice. Evaluation and initial treatment of supraventricular tachycardia.

This article reviews a systematic approach to diagnosis and management of supraventricular tachycardias. Adenosine, which blocks the AV node, is of diagnostic value but should not be used in cases of irregular wide-complex tachycardias, since it may lead to clinical instability.
