Fast magnetic field analysis of a deflection yoke with a slot core

The cylindrical boundary element method is extended to analyze a three-dimensional configuration such as a deflection yoke with a slot core. The analyzed results are compared with the measurements and the peak field discrepancy is less than 1%. Furthermore the beam convergence characteristics on the screen surface are compared with the measured pattern and it is found that the numerical convergence error is less than 0.2 mm. As for the computation time, the matrix calculation and its solution time is reduced by a factor of 9 in comparison with conventional three-dimensional analysis. The field calculation time is also improved to 0.061 sec/point, which is 6 times faster than by conventional analysis. >
