Abstract The design of Sustainable Industrial Production model needs close integration between Virtual and Physical Factories. The integration aims at reaching two following objectives: tactical, consisting in maintenance and upgrading activities of actual products/processes/production systems, and strategic, consisting in defmition and development of new configuration of products/processes/production systems. To reach these objectives, the Institute is developing, within the ManuFuturing project, software tools, methodologies and production modules one of which is the grippers/components integrated coding system. It may be utilized both within Virtual Factory, as a submodule of assembly process simulator, and within the Physical Factory, as a submodule of CAPAP system.
