An adaptive sleep scheduling algorithm for solar energy sensor networks

Through harvesting solar energy,energy limitation of nodes in sensor networks is relaxed.An adaptive sleep scheduling algorithm is proposed for solar energy harvesting sensor networks.When the monitoring scenario varies from area surveillance to target tracking,node adaptively changes its status between active and sleeping.Meanwhile,sleeping nodes whose residual energy are less than energy threshold harvest solar energy.Compared with the sleep scheduling algorithm without considering solar energy harvesting,the proposed algorithm can extend network lifetime.
