Training a self-organizing map distributed on a PVM network

A distributed version of Kohonen's self organizing map (SOM) algorithm is presented, and it's implementation on a parallel virtual machine (PVM) network running on Intel based PCs with Microsoft Windows 95 is described. Numerical results are given for different work loads.
