After the first progressive collapse of the apartment building at Ronan Point had been reported in 1968,UK building regulations have provided recommendations to guard against disproportionate collapse. In US, Similar recommendations have been included in the building codes, and the related research has drawn much attention since the collapse of the World Trade Center towers. Although the domestic structures are facing the same risk of the progressive collapse, there are little research activities on the subject mechanism. In this paper progressive collapse analysis is performed for a steel structure using the linear-static procedures recommended by the US GSA2003. The analysis were conducted using OpeenSees. Based on the analysis results the following conclusions are made: total collapse occurs when a lower floor column is removed, while a middle floor column removement results in the partial collapse.
