More than any of the other geophysical subdisciplines, development and production (D&P) demands that geophysicists, engineers, and field managers who control development and management of oil fields have an intimate working relationship. D&P is where the “rubber meets the road.” Here, geophysical data and results are used to make important decisions on a regular basis. It is not surprising, therefore, that this subdiscipline has remained among those evolving fastest in the field. In D&P, many of the most novel concepts emerge and are field tested.
