Joint clustering and interference alignment for overloaded femtocell networks

In this paper, we propose three joint clustering and scheduling schemes for overloaded femtocell network based on interference alignment. The schemes try to reach a tradeoff between the system sum-capacity and the fairness between the users. Considering different path loss configurations, the performance of the different schemes in terms of system sum-capacity is evaluated based on Monte-Carlo simulations. They show that combining clustering with interference alignment (IA) and a time division multiplexing process while alternating the access between all the users results in a good tradeoff between system sum-capacity and fairness.
