An Optimized Monopole Microstrip Patch Antenna with Gradual Steps for Ultrawideband Applications

An optimized monopole microstrip Patch Antenna for UWB (Ultra Wideband) Applications is designed. The proposed antenna is fed by a single microstrip line and designed to operate from 2 to 14GHz. It consists of a patch with gradual steps, a single slot on the patch, and a partial ground plane with special slit. Experiments are carried out to investigate its return loss and its radiation, which exhibit good radiation pattern and impedance bandwidth over the entire band of frequency.
