Realism and time symmetry in quantum mechanics

Abstract A new formulation of the time-symmetric or transactional approach to quantum mechanics is applied to the tandem interferometers considered recently by Blasi and Hardy. It is shown that the new formalism is consistent with conventional quantum mechanics but also provides a realistic description of the quantum system.
