Controller design and analysis for fifth-order boost converter

A robust controller is designed for high-gain boost point of load converter. In view of the high-gain characteristic, the converter gives freedom of connecting a smaller battery source to a larger voltage dc-bus, but more sensitive to uncertainties. To accommodate the uncertainties and to ensure voltage regulation a robust bode method is used in the controller design. The boosting features are demonstrated through a steady-state analysis, and subsequently design expressions for selection of converter elements are obtained. State-space models are formulated and then the corresponding models are used in the robust bode based controller design. The proposed converter regulation features are studied initially through simulations and afterwards compared with experimental results of the prototype module.
